Fertility Preservation Network Sponsors 2018 Cancer Fundraiser Event Teams

Press Release November 7, 2018

ReproTech a cryobank specializing in long-term storage of human reproductive tissue (sperm, eggs, embryos and ovarian/testicular tissue), was proud to sponsor local staff in multiple 2018 cancer research fundraisers.

Throughout 2018, ReproTech sponsored its Texas site staff and team to participate in the Dallas St. Jude Walk to End Childhood Cancer as well as the Heroes for Hope 5k, the teams raising over $1,000 between the two events. Also, the ReproTech Minnesota staff and team participated in the St. Jude Minneapolis Walk to End Childhood Cancer, raising nearly $1,400. And the ReproTech Nevada site staff participated in Tough Mudder while raising nearly $1,200 for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.  ReproTech also sponsored a shavee at the Reno, NV St. Baldrick’s event, helping the shavee raise over $800. In all, the ReproTech sponsored teams help raise thousands of dollars for cancer awareness and research in 2018.

ReproTech regularly sponsors or contributes funds to cancer fundraising events in the areas where its employees and four regional facilities reside, Ft. Lauderdale/Coconut Creek, Florida; Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota, Reno, Nevada; and Dallas/Garland, Texas.

According to the American Cancer Society, 140,000 American men and women under the age of 45 are newly diagnosed with cancer each year.  Also, according to the American Association for Cancer Research, while the United States had an estimated 3 million survivors in 1971, that estimate is expected to reach about 14.5 million in 2014, with nearly 380,000 having been diagnosed as children or adolescents.  Once diagnosed, there is a small window of time for patients to preserve their fertility; therefore, access to cryopreservation services is extremely important.  ReproTech has organized its Fertility Preservation Network to educate oncology professionals and caretakers, as well as provide much needed cryopreservation services. The network now includes members in 36 states and the Caribbean. Additionally, the work of FertileHope with LIVESTRONG has advanced the awareness of the need for Fertility Preservation among the oncology community.
